The Venue

Cowdray Hall The venue for the concerts is the Cowdray Hall which is located next to the Aberdeen Art Gallery. The entrance is on the corner at the junction of Schoolhill and Blackfriars Street. Free evening parking is available in the Denburn carpark, the entrance of which is in Spa Street down behind the Theatre. It takes less than five minutes to come up the steps at the side of His Majesty's Theatre on to Rosemount Viaduct, and then walk left along to the Hall. The doors open at 7.00pm on concert nights.

The Cowdray Hall was built as a gift to the citizens of Aberdeen (c.1926) from the Cowdray family, and the recognition of its excellent acoustics for the performance of chamber music was one of the main factors that led to the formation of the Aberdeen Chamber Music Club in 1930. The musicians who play for the concerts the Club promotes are always delighted to perform in such sympathetic surroundings - some indeed have compared it favourably to the famous Wigmore Hall in London.
